Urd brings together three strong voices in the contemporary Nordic folk music scene: riksspelman Alva Bosdottir from Skåne, percussionist Jens Linell, and Danish violinist Mikael Graubæk.
The trio's concert concept, Dark Scandi, is built on raw, suggestive interpretations of historical sheet music from the 1700s — including the Blomgren collections (Skåne, c. 1780), Rasmus Storm's Nodebog (1760), and Bröderna Bast (1763). The music is built entirely without chordal instruments. Instead, low-tuned fiddles, drones, calfskin drum, and heavy foot-stamping create a direct, physical soundworld that preserves the energy of the dance in a new, contemporary stage expression.
Through their work with Scanian and Danish source material, Urd turns the Öresund region into an artistic engine — bringing new life to a shared cultural heritage. The project is supported by the Swedish Arts Council (Kulturrådet), with its premiere planned for 2026.
